1. WHY?

a. Why is this thing on your list? Why do you want this thing gone from your life?

Is it a minor irritant or a major issue?

2. IT DOESN’T FEED ME

a. If it doesn’t feed you, then does it feed someone else in your life? Do you love

that person? Will not doing it hurt them, cost you your relationship with them or cause strife? Is the relationship one you want to maintain? Can you Say F*ck It! to just some of it with good results and a bit of relief? Can you recover from doing it (or not doing it) if you change your mind later?

b. In other words, can you recover if you say F*ck It! and quit doing whatever it is but then change your mind later if your new approach doesn’t work? Like maybe not monitoring your kiddo’s homework every night – maybe you try it for two weeks and if his or her grades don’t tank, you keep it up. If they do tank, you try a different strategy. So, it’s a recoverable approach, with a minor and impermanent impact.

3. IT’S ANNOYING or I DON’T LIKE DOING IT

a. Do you not like it because it’s challenging? Are you afraid you will fail? Will anything irrecoverably bad happen if you fail? If you succeed, will you grow? Is it ultimately good for you? Can you Say F*ck It! a little or just sometimes with minimal negative consequences? Will that make it less annoying? Do you really want to stop doing this thing or do you just need a break?

b. Things that could fall into this category are: dieting, eating healthy, making dinner, working out (too much or too little), going to events you’re not really into, etc.

4. SOMEONE ELSE SHOULD BE DOING IT

a. Can someone else do it? Do you feel like someone else should be doing it? Will someone else get more benefit from doing it? (In other words, don’t hog all the good jobs.) Would someone else do it if you stopped? What then?

b. Things like emptying the dishwasher, doing laundry, other chores at home or tasks at work would fit into this category.

5. IT HURTS ME

a. Does it cause healthy growth? Is that growth worth your pain? Is it causing irreparable damage to your body, mind, soul or relationship(s)? Is Saying F*ck It! going to be difficult, but still would be worth it?

b. Some examples of these kinds of things might be: eating crap food, toxic relationships, unhealthy living environments, detrimental living practices, working out, going back to school, or learning new skills.
